The Indian women’s hockey team played the draw match against hosts South Africa in the Hockey World League (HWL) on Saturday. Indian women fought hard against South Africa and the Goalkeeper Savita was the star for India as performance stood out for the match.

Savita saved two fantastic goals in the ninth and 52nd minutes and did not allow South Africa to take the lead.

By the end of the first half, both teams were facing a similar challenge. In the 45th minute just before the end of the third quarter, India had a good chance to take the lead, when Anupa Barla reached close to the South African goalpost, although she could not take advantage of this opportunity.

In the last quarter, the hosts tried hard to take the lead and also made a dangerous attack, but Savita did the best defence and saved India once again.

The match ended on a 0-0 goalless shot, and forced to share the points of both the teams.

In this match, the Indian team got two penalty corners, but due to South Africa’s best defence, the team could not score on both occasions. The green card was also shown by the referee as a warning to the 1-1 player of both teams. First, South Africa’s Quanita Bobbs received a green card, Gurjeet Kaur also received a green card.
