India is shocked before the World League semi-final of hockey starting on Thursday in London. India’s star drag flicker and defender Rupinder Pal Singh and midfielder SK Uthappa are out of the team.

Rupinder is out of the tournament due to the strain in the muscles. Uthappa returned to India due to personal reasons. India have to play their first match against Scotland on Thursday.

Instead of Rupinder, Defender Jasjit Singh Kular has been named in the team who will also be working as drag flicker for the team. Jasjit has 46 internationals experience. Jasjit has also scored five goals at this level.

In the place of Uthappa, Sumit has been kept in the team. He was selected for the first time during the Ajlan Shah Cup tournament for senior team. Sumit Junior has also been a member of the World Cup 2016 winning team.

Team Captain and goal keeper S. Sreejesh is already out of the team due to injury and his half-back Manpreet Singh is leading the team.India is placed in Group B of this tournament where it has teams from Canada, the Netherlands, Pakistan and Scotland. India will face Pakistan on June 18.
